The Bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments of the Constitution.
1st amendment
Congress does not have the right to make laws to force anyone to change freedom or religion, speech, press, or to come together in a peaceful way. They also can't end petitions to their government.
2nd amendment
People have the right to keep and bear arms. Which means citizens have the freedom to have a weapon in there possession.
3rd amendment
The government cannot force citizens to allow soldiers in their homes. To be allowed to stay at someone's house, the solider must get permission from the house owner.
4th amendment
There shouldn't be any unreasonable searches, but only with a warrant stating what you're looking for and where. If not, you're not allowed to enter anybodies homes.
5th amendment
Persons accused of crimes have all the right to have a jury trial. Their lives, freedom, and property may not be taken from them unfairly.
6th amendment
Persons accused of a crime have the right to a public trial, so jury can hear from either side. They must be told of the charges against them, so the jury can decide weather their guilty or not. They also have the right to a legal lawyer, and to question those who accuse them.
7th amendment
In all criminal cases, the one accused has the right to a speedy trial. Held in the state that the crime might have been committed in.
8th amendment
No one should receive unreasonable amounts of punishments or fines. The punishments should also not be too cruel.
9th amendment
The rights that people have are not only the ones stated in the Bill of Rights. The ones stated are some rights, but not all.
10 amendment
Protects citizens from a powerful central federal government. Powers that are not for the government, should be among the states or the people.
